:__Launch of "SON OF SCIENCE Ensemble" on Easter Sunday

Join Secession, Toy Satellite and Melbourne Publishing at the official launch of the new avant-jazz ensemble, SON OF SCIENCE (SOS), along with the first screening of the video clip to SOS's "Space Radio" by writer/film-maker, Paul White.

The SOS Ensemble combines contemporary electronica with jazz and orchestral elements alongside evocative visuals created in and 'navigated' live via a customised game engine. SOS is a synthesis of creative skills harnessed by composer/producer, Andrew Garton, and articulated in collaboration with the Ensemble.

The SON OF SCIENCE Ensemble is:

- Andrew Garton (vocals, laptop, keyboards)
- Steve Law (laptop, synths)
- John Power (video)

+ Special guests:

- Mark Tallon (vocals)
- Dravid (tabla)

SOS is Andrew Garton's return to his songwriting and compositional roots and is in part inspired by the writings of Olaf Stapleton and the compositions of such luminaries as Stockhausen and Takemitsu.

The innovative fusions accomplished by bands such as CAN, Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Focus and Tangerine Dream contribute to the SOS sound, its creative direction and challenges.
