|| secession update 06/05/01 #018
It's been a few months between updates, but we haven't been idle. Finally, two new releases. The first release on Secession from the Department of Ongoing Digital Situations and a new compilation from the Lost Time Accident archives.
We've also been in Taiwan working with local artists such as Jim-e, DJ Ty, Monbaza, VJs Vince and Austin, and getting to know the good people of the Taipei Underground Noise Collective.
Along with our new releases we've made it easier to order and purchase Secession products online. All freight and handling charges are inclusive of the cost of all releases, no matter the destination.
We're also negotiating outlets in South Korea and Taiwan where noise art and experimental audio seems have a strong following.
___new release: Secret City, Department of Ongoing Digital Situations
Originally available as a limited release cassette, Secret City has been re-mastered with additional tracks from the meisters of socially conscious collage - The Department of Ongoing Digital Situations.
Includes the provocative collage, Legends to Maps of Freedom, comprised of interviews with media art luminaries such as Greil Marcus, Bruce Sterling, Natalie Jereminjenko and Craig Baldwin.

___new release: Creating Regions, Lost Time Accident
Creating Regions is the long awaited compilation of live and remixed recordings from Lost Time Accident, originally composed and recorded for the mid-1997 netcast from Toy Satellite (Melbourne) to DocumentaX (Kassel, Germany).
Inspired by the stone masonry of central Prague, the gothic sculptures of Vienna and Austria's challenging radio arts culture, Creating Regions evokes mourning for European cultures in decay and the dawn of an international community of arts activism.

___return from Taipei
We returned from the Taipei International Arts Festival, performed the 2 hour collaborative sound and video piece, Undercurrents, and forged close ties with Taiwanese DJs, video artists, and the Underground Noise collective.
Undercurrents featured collage and improvisation techniques, concentrating on the development of simultaneous sonic and visual relationships.
The performance integrated the shared concerns of Australian and Taiwanese artists, in particular those of ecological values and cultural identity.

___new things to put our gear in
One of the more time consuming and expensive aspects of running a label is deciding on, producing and paying for packaging. Wanting to reduce the consumption of plastic, as well get material out more frequently we've come up with a packaging strategy that seems to work for us.
Every release will be available in the same package with serial numbers, artist and album titles as the only markers identifying each item. However, each release is accompanied by a unique insert, designed in collaboration with visual artists and designers, contains track details and other release information.
You'll also find an actual Secession logo on all our materials now. It was skillfully crafted by one of Toy Satellite's lead designers, Andrew Thomas, who was also responsible our new packaging.
