we're now into week 4. last week had us listening to the deep and profound tones of seo's MAX patch, straying across subtle harmonic frequencies, always refreshing and alerting the ear to the calm beauty of the sine wave. the finale, in its tumultuous rise was worth the hour or so to get to it.
dik smith welcomed the evening with an intelligent selection of original beats, soundscapes and radio commentary, processed delicately, fine tuned and remarkable in what could have been a cross between an audio documentary and post modernism in full flight. despite some problems with the CD players, dik kept good rapor with the faithful that had festooned themselves to the foreshore of the venue.
this week we feature the drone soundscapes of Beam Up and a heady, uncertain mix rendered by newcomer, Speed Vinyl, commencing at 9pm sharp.
Speed Vinyl appeared with DOOF-X in Return to Timor, a joint project with Minihub, UNTAET and secession, held over New Years Eve in Alieu, East Timor. the Dark Ambient Operators have been rescheduled for may.
exp | centriphugal experimental is held every friday evening at centriphugal, opposite victoria markets, beneath the mercat hotel on queen street, melbourne.
exp now runs from 9 - 11.30pm.
