Initiated by Andrew Garton, Lost Time Accident (LTA) is a vehicle for the development of collaborative dark ambient, generative compositions with an emphasis on social commentary.
LTA first appeared in 1996, creating improvised and algorithmically composed sound for recording and performance. This was developed in concert with live, video processing in collaboration with John Power and Kim Bounds (a.k.a. 2Loops).
LTA's first release, AGE 2 WONDER AT, was recorded live, in collaboration with Simon Kaufmann, at Toy Satellite in the summer of 1996 and mastered in the winter of 1998.
LTA has performed with Telescape (David Cox) at the Dali Bar, Empress Hotel and at Glitch in Melbourne. LTA was also heard underscoring performances of Fierce Throat, a screaming choir, at the 1996 Melbourne Fringe Festival (Australia).
More recently, LTA performed at Electrofringe, Centriphugal and Pony, Melbourne.
LTA received the Innovation Award in the 2D category of the Contemporary Art and Technology Digital Imaging Awards, Experimenta, 1996.
